Popular Stain Tones and Colors

Wood Tone Stains

A tone is the slight pigmentation of color that is added to the transparent stains to add personal preference to the outcome.  You can think of it as a color but the tones are in traditional wood shades and you can see most of the wood grain through the stain.

Wood Tone in Cedar

One of our most popular transparent stains with toner is called "Cedar" and for good reason.  It's a great look.

Wood Tone in Canyon Brown

Another popular choice is "Canyon Brown".  If the photos appear a shade darker than the digital samples above it's because these decks were two coated.

Semi-Transparent Colors

Semi-Transparent Colors

A semi-transparent stain will cover more of the wood's natural grain but will leave a slight hint of it.  This is a good option for those who want a little color but want to preserve some of the wood's natural grain look.

Oxford Brown

A great choice when contrasting with white trim.

Redwood

A popular choice for those who want some color but want a classic look like Redwood.

Solid Color Stains

Solid Color Stains

Think of solid color stains like you'd think of paint.  They will cover all of the wood's natural grain look.  Stains, however, are different than paints.  They have the sealing attributes that you want when covering exterior wood-built structures.  This is why it's important to use stains and not paints when doing an exterior wood-built structure.  Solid color stains come in all types of colors.  If you have a color in mind that's not on this list, let WoodWorx know and we'll either match it or find something you like even more!
